Serious question.
I know you don't put them in the DW because of the abrasive detergent, but what is wrong with laying them in the sink as long as they are not banged around or otherwise abused?

I have a Henkles double chef's knife that I bought at a TJ Maxx 20 to 25 years ago. Probably paid $20 for it. It's the first knife I grab for pretty much anything because it's so well balanced in my hand, if that makes sense. Hit it with a honing stick every time I use it. Sharpest knife I own to this day.

If they are intermingled with other dishes or possibly covered with suds or underwater this is a very good way to slice your hand open.

yes. had mine for almost 30 years. They are not Damascus steel or anything exotic. They reside in a cutting block and not on lighted, revolving display over my fireplace. They were considered some of the better knives you could buy at the time. They can be sharpened and they cut food

The line they rebranded as Zwillong 4 stars are the really good ones that chef’s have used for a really long time.

Some of their other lines are basically just ok
