Let's face it, the "average" American male consumes way too much crappy food, and if you're the type pontificating that a double cheeseburger and fries isn't too much for a manly man, you're probably a fatty.

I don't think a double cheeseburger and fries is way over the top if you're only eating like that once a week or so.

6’1” 181 active enough to not need calorie restriction and wealthy enough to not care if the burger and fries at 5 Guys costs $9 or $10. Carry on.

Yeah, I bet.

You bringing up price, when I made no mention of it, speaks volumes.

1 hamburger and the smallest fry? I just don't know what I am missing. Do people really cut a burger in half?

A cheeseburger, fries, and a soft drink is like 1500+ calories from Five Guys

I typically get a “little” cheeseburger, and occasionally split the fries (I don’t usually get them).

This post seems intentionally obtuse since it’s pretty known that they give you enough fries for 2-3 people in the “smallest order”. You also said the double patty burger, which is not widely considered a standard hamburger.

Not knocking what you order.. just agreeing with whoever said it’s basically 2 people worth of food for the price.

What about the free peanuts. I always stuff my shirt pockets with peanuts before I leave. That has got to be worth at least $4.00.

A small fry is $3.00. Is this really expensive?

Thats more expensive than a large fry at other fast food places, so yes its expensive if all you want is a small fry.

They’re fresh, in store cut French Fries vs frozen fries from a bag. Their small fry is also probably an equal quantity of fries to a large fry at McDonalds. If anything, it’s a fricken great value. And I’m sorry, but $3.00 simply isn’t “expensive” regardless of what you’re buying. If a postage stamp was $3.00 and I really needed to mail something, I wouldn’t be upset that it costed me $3.00

Burgers and fries are an occasional treat. Not something that is a line item on my ledger that I need to budget for.

Your personal preference is meaningless in this conversation. We are discussing the habits of millions of people. There are many people in this country who will spend $8-$10 dollars on a Burger/Fry/Drink but not $15, and dont need a shite ton of fries. And to be honest, McDonalds fries may be frozen, but when they are hot they are better than 5 guys, and much less greasy.

Then they shouldn’t spend the $15. Keep going to McDonalds. Five Guys is a better experience with better food. It will cost a few dollars more. If your metric is caloric intake/dollar, I agree with you... 5 guys isn’t for you. If you’re not poor, and prefer high quality ingredients and decent service, then go to five guys. But it’s not “overrated” and it’s not “expensive”. It’s rightly rated and a good value for what you get... in my “personal preference”

Of course it is. The single is "little".

Again, do people cut these in half. Oh, your post was fricking terrible in every possible way.

Again, you are missing the point. Obviously you can’t order a smaller fry than what they offer. All the person said was that for the money, you get a ton of food.

My annoyance with the prices and inability to get a smaller meal at Five Guys is well documented over the years here. I’ve complained at them calling their standard burger “little” a million times, because it’s misleading to make you spend more.

All of that said, the person who said a double and the fries is enough for two people still isn’t wrong.
