I suspect it is, but wanted the opinions of those who have had it. Thanks.

Barramundi are ‘bottom feeders’, just like Tilapia.

As far as being a ‘lower level fish’, that’s a personal opinion.

It is a higher quality fish than tilapia but, still has a bit of a stigma as an aquaculture fish.

A few years ago, it was the fish everyone was putting on their menus, now it's an afterthought.

Barramundi are nutritious and sustainable and that's why I like them.

Quality of a fish is 90% how it was handled.
The "bottom feeder" label is irrelevant to any farmed fish. They are eating pellets off the top.
Wild barramundi are game fish caught like bass in Australia.
Nutritionally all farmed white fish is about the same because they all eat approximately the same diet.
It's ultimately a matter of how you want to cook it as to which farmed fish you want. You wouldn't cook a seatrout the same as redfish. Bigger meatier fillets for heavier preparations vs thin delicate fillets for lighter applications.

Got a bag from Costco. First time eating it went back the next day and got two more bags.

Had two filets tonight. Lemon butter sauce with some Dragos sauce brushed on as well.

Yep. If people thought about what catfish eat it would be a “lowest level fish.”

This is a misleading statement. They are predators that just happen to prefer the bottom. They are great game fish and are often stocked for this purpose. Tilapia are vegetarians, and there's nothing inherently wrong with the species. They het a bad rap for how they are farmed.

i dont have a problem with any aquaculture white fish. they are just fine. not a ton of their own natural flavor but it doesnt take a lot of creativity or skill to make them tasty.

just get them from a decent source.
