In what order do you eat a plate of sushi like this?

I have to eat the questionable stuff first…while I’m still hungry AF.

Squid, Mackerel, Octopus, Scallop…then the good stuff (although I actually
like raw scallops). Not sure why they topped the Snapper (IDK what that is actually) with a damn compote…I just scraped that crap off.

I'd go right to left assuming the bottom of the picture would be the "right side" of the plate. Squid and Octopus are good stuff. Haven't had mackerel sushi before.

I had to get that squid down first…I can’t find a redeeming quality with that stuff. Kind of have to force down that Mackerel too.

Why are you ordering food that you do not like, especially when the price of sushi is on the higher end?

That’s the “chef’s preparation” on the omakase offering there. I think the only pairing I liked, more than just the plain fish, was the octopus. It was a spicy oil, started with an “O”…but I couldn’t hear her well. The chimichurri on the mackerel was good as well…that blob of jelly was dumb.

You don’t pick what they serve you…it’s just the chef’s choice. I mean you have to order the dish…but after that you don’t select what you’re getting.

Mackerel is awesome. Dunno if they would put chimichurri on it though

Dragonfly in Gainesville Fl.

We’re trying to find a school for my son to kick footballs at. Driving around the south checking out restaurants really.

You’re not a raw octopus/squid/scallop eater?

No, I cannot get into raw fish anything. I have tried several times. Some of my kids love it, but I cannot get into it. It looks good though.

About the 56th chew into that squid and I was wondering if I should just swallow it or spit it out…literally nothing was changing, it was expanding if anything. Doesn’t taste like anything, which is good…but the texture does something to my brain that says ‘this isn’t food’.

I'm good with everything but the mackerel in any order. That stuff sucks, and I normally would just leave it on the plate

Yea, but that was my whole entree. If I would have left it for last no way I would eaten it…which is the point of this thread. Gotta eat that shite when you’re hungry…otherwise you just start smelling it and it will never go down.

I am not grossed out by mackerel as a food, but it’s too fishy for me. Squid, octopus, and the shrimp they sometimes do are a no-go for me because of texture.

Pretty much everything else I like. Sea bream, amberjack, salmon, tuna or salmon belly, etc.

I avoid chef samplers at places that aren’t super specialty because they fill it with shrimp, octopus, and that ugly escolar fish that makes you poop if you eat too much. With so many of your plate being ones I’m not into, I’d not have ordered that and just doubled up on the pieces I actually enjoy.
