The first time I had In-N-Out it was fantastic. Second and third times were no better than McDonalds.
I concede it's not life changing, but it's certainly a better product than McDonald's.

Whataburger is technically better but much less consistent than INO, who are the chik-fil-a of the burger game.
Whataburger feels like rolling the dice depending on the location. Maybe being Chicago-based will knock some midwestern service into them.

It’s really not great, barely good. It’s a tiny step above McDonalds and Burger King, and only arguably on par with Whataburger.

Here's my In-N-Out take:
Solid burger, solid milkshake, fries that are weird but oddly endearing, fantastic service and cleanliness, dirt cheap price point.

I moved to Texas about a year ago and don’t see why whataburger is so liked here. To me it is just a fast food burger. Maybe slightly better than the other fast food chains.
I prefer 5 guys to whataburger.

Whataburger has 3 things going for it:
1. It’s open 24 hours, including the dining room, so you can hang out there with your buddies and get drunk food after the bars close.
2. You can get small versions of all their premium burgers. Most burger joints have smaller sized jr burgers, but often don’t have premium toppings available for them. At Whataburger, you can get a large or small version of any of their burger toppings combos.
3. Their breakfast is really good for fast food, arguably the best. That honeybutter chicken biscuit is awesome, and they start selling breakfast after midnight. I’ve had more than a few of those chicken biscuits post bar.
