Looking to grab a beer somewhere new. Any new craft beer bars worth trying? Chimes is my default but want to try something new.

I've heard Corporate Draft and Brew is great, but I haven't been personally.

Chimes gives you the best combo of beer/food in one place.

yeah, this is that!

As for something new, Corporate Brew and Draft would be a good option. It opened in January of 2015

Corporate Brew & Draft... but they don't have food.

Chimes is still a good option.

Bulldog isn't a bad spot either.

I thought Corporate was selling hot dogs or sausages. I've never bought food from there. I do know the bartenders don't give a shite if you bring in stuff from Albasha and eat it there.
I don't know what Tom has against food. Corporate ought to sell burgers, fancy sausages, grilled chicken, club sandwiches, etc.

I'd guess he doesn't see potential for ROI. Or maybe he thinks it's too much trouble.

But I'm just guessing.

Its strictly a craft beer bar, not bulldog, pelican house, etc.

He might as well just let me come over and burn his money if he is going to do add a full menu to the place. People are going there to drink beer, not eat club sandwiches.

And people like me are not going there because I can't eat a club sandwich.

I think they would do well with a limited menu. Small plates at good price would bring more people in.

I understand they are going for a specific demographic, but a small limited menu could only help bring in others who arent complete beer enthusiasts.

I don't get the impression that you are a patron at many dedicated bars, B. I could be mistaken, but it seems like most of your beers are at home, with people, or with a meal.

CBD is practically right across the street from my office, yet I rarely go. It's not because they don't have great beer. It's because I can't put any food in my belly there. Yet, I'll drive to Chimes at least once a week for lunch and beers. So they get a whole lot more of my money.

Look at what Polly is doing to step up the food game at Avenue. People are starting to figure out that food is at least somewhat important in making a decision on where to go, given that there are now so many options with good craft beer.

I'm amazed at the bars in town that don't sell food, like Corporate Brew & Draft, and especially Delgado's beer bar downtown. Draft House could get some of the after work crowd if they had a little food. I mean, you can practically teach a monkey to make a decent hamburger and grill a chicken breast. And people will stay there longer and drink more if there's food.

I mean, Lock & Key and Olive or Twist have good apps on their menus. It ain't difficult.

or it could be just throwing money down the drain. with a menu a number of things need to happen i would imagine.

-build a kitchen and/or modify the building to house kitchen equipment and all the food and supplies. i have no idea how much this will cost. any ideas?
-hire someone to make the menu and cook the food. i would imagine more than 1 person would be required.
-spend money on advertising that they now have said menu
-get people there to eat their food

it would take a lot to take someone from going to the chimes to go to cbd with their limited menu. the amount of people that would pick cbd because their beer menu is better and still be ok with a limited menu is probably very small.
