Shatleys was the worst dining experience my wife and I have ever had. We were laughing through the entire ordeal

They have some of the best wings I've ever had. But the second part is very true.

Walkers, Ticos, Keifers, Parlor Market, Manship, the Elite, brent's drugs, babalu, saltine, iron horse grill. There's a lot north of Jackson as well if you're staying further up that way - Koestler Prime or seafood revolution (renaissance in Ridgeland), samba, Georgia blue.

List could go on.

Jackson sucks, but lack of good food is not one of the reasons.

Ribs at E & L were a severe let down. Hot links and sauce were great, but the ribs were not good at all. Definitely not worth getting shot over.

No love for Cool Al's? formerly Stamps Super Burgers?
Lemon-pepper potato chips are a great side.

Not a fan of any burger place in Jackson. Beatty Street, CS's and Cool Al's are gross dumps.

Walker's and Babalu are legit.

We have not been, but I understand Mr. D's on Georgetown street in Crystal Springs is a legit burger place. Probably not fancy.

If you want a place you'd not be hesitant to take the little lady for a burger dinner, try 303 Jefferson Street in Clinton. We like it a lot and they have good burgers and excellent onion rings. They also have beer, wine, cocktails, appetizers and other nice (more upscale than burgers)food stuff. It is a good comfortable restaurant. Maybe a Clinton secret, so don't tell anyone.

Cultivation

It's a new " food hall" in the district near east over. Has a handful of eating/drinking options all in one building

I am a cool als fan.
I also like E&L for rib tips and hot links. Sauce on the side (dip fries and tips in it.) Go during the day. MD is correct that that's not the best part of town, but I've been many times and have yet to be shot, mugged, or raped.

Mr. Chens off of 55 for asian.

Thanks, I added it to my list. We have not been to any of the District restaurants yet. Not sure why.

So, can I assume you're from the Jackson area? I use to live on the Ross Barnett Reservoir back in the early 70's and worked at a now defunct marina that was located next to the Yacht Club.

At the time they had 4 marinas located on the lake, Main Harbor and Old Trace Marina are the only two who's names I remember and I worked at the Old Trace.

Last time I was up that way I was amazed how much it has transformed over the years I've been away. County Line Rd. back then was a 2 land blacktop with cow pastures and the occasional Mom & Pop Store. The road leading to the site where the marina use to be is now loaded with gated communities and back then it was nothing but woods and the site where the marina stood is high end houses with boat slips and BMW's parked in the driveways.

Also, it’s worth the drive to Flora to get a burger at the Blue Rooster. The flamethrower there is my go-to.
Railroad pizza company in flora is good too. I can’t say that I get the hype for bills creole Depot there though.

Been a while, but I thought the steaks and food at 'Char' were outstanding.
