Everything lined up for a big cook day Thursday. Prep tonight and tomorrow. My frigging heating element went out on my stove just now. Yea me. Last time this happened I had to order a replacement and it took 3 days to get it.

Do you have a grill?

You can do a really nice bird on one.

What else was on the menu?

Turkey and andoullie gumbo for the win. It's not all about the meal anyway. Buy extra drinks and build a fire outside.

Assuming that you are in a town slightly-larger & less-remote than Bug Tussle, AL, Google "appliance repair parts" in your fair city.

The last time that my stove went out I was about halfway through giving the stove's model number to the counter-rep when he was already back with the replacement element.

Run to WalMart and buy a Nesco roaster, or the cheaper Oster version. Those make a pretty darn good turkey.

This is a good idea.

He'd be better off buying a single heating element if he has a grill and can't replace his oven heating element.

That or get to Costco and get a Oster French door countertop
electric oven. Big enough to bake a 16" pizza so it should be big enough for a turkey. They were $149.00.

If you have propane and propane accessories, perhaps get yourself one of those "air fryers" and broil the bird outside instead of roasting it in the oven. They should be around $100. You can do a trial run on a chicken today to get used to it and then use the chicken in some sort of side dish or play the "pregnant turkey" prank on less savvy members of your family.

All is good. We got very lucky and found a place that has the element we need in stock. I had planned on frying the turkey anyway. It was the sides the wife was worried about. Just basic sides. Baked macaroni and green bean casserole.
