Yes. First 2 years.

Unless they were hermits and had no friends
Lived on campus for those years. Shared gas money and often served as DD for friends.
Did lots of stuff. Had and have lots of friends.
The one who had a car brought it when decided they wanted it. Didn't want or feel like they needed one until that time.

I can't say ATL and I have ever argued, but okay
ATL: I do have to say I'm proud/surprised you made this thread in the first place. If I remember correctly, you didn't agree with the types who complained about the BR food scene. I may have you confused with someone though.

Hey dipshit, we are on page 12 of a thread on BR's food scene. Of course it's going to get derailed

I think that is accurate.
I almost always peruse the threads where someone is looking for advice for birthday dinner, romantic dinner, friends from out of town, etc. etc.
It hit me that I never find out any new information. Then I started thinking that I have lived half time in Savannah for a year and a half and I am always learning of new local places.
I like BR a lot and I offered this thread as an observation.
I apologize to LL and Jones for my condescending words. I could have disagreed vehemently without being offended.
I apologize to the rest of you for derailing the thread.
Much to my chagrin, I can be an a-hole myself from time to time.

Despite everything, I must admit I am a bit proud to have started a 12 page thread.

You must be the worst lurker of all time if you think that.
Today is the first time I've responded to a post of his that he didn't text me and tell me to stop

Derailed or not, 12 pages for a BR food scene thread is pretty spectacular

I'm just fricking with y'all. Some are still trying to figure that out.

Go back to lurking, you're derailing a derailed thread even more so

But anyways, after moving away and only visiting twice a year for a while now, we rarely eat out in BR. Someone's always cooking. Every time we try to go out to eat, everyone has been to the same 4 or 5 restaurants mentioned in here so much that it's just boring to do so.
So what usually happens is that we just cook at home because there's just not much out there in BR

You seem to be apologizing more than usual, lately, TiA.
I can always find food I enjoy in BR, but I don't go out into various areas because I'm usually not going in those directions. I had Calvin's crack chicken salad for lunch.
Some colleges don't allow freshman to have cars on campus their first year. Vandy and Tulane come to mind. Not the same sort of town, but them's the facts.
I shared one with my brother at LSU the first year and I rarely used it. We always went places with groups and someone in the group always wanted to have his or her car wherever we were going. Or, my date drove. Don't recall asking anyone for a ride anywhere. Went off campus a lot. I used it more going home than I ever did for anything else. I wouldn't have cared if I never had one except to go home on a weekend if I wanted to, but I didn't go home much.
When I was in apt, we both had cars, but one was a piece of junk. The driver door wouldn't open and you could see the road from a hole in the floorboard. My brother always wanted the good one for dates and I would tell them the crap one wasn't safe for a girl, so we fought. One night, he parked the crap car in one of the stadium parking lots, brought the keys home and told my parents he would go without a car if he had to drive that one again. Tossed the keys to them. They laughed. I think they showed him his checking account, what he spent money on, where and the overdrafts. That sort of put an end to it for the moment. He wasn't interested in getting a job. I would make him and his roommates big pots of gumbo so I could keep the good car more, though I didn't use it much. I just liked it parked in case I needed it.
This thread is a hoot. So many experts.

BR's food scene isn't that bad really. There are a good bit of local restaurants and decent seafood places. Lots of variety too.
Oh, I guess I need to word that to keep with the tone of the thread
If you don't like BR's food, frick ya mother!

Exactly. I think BR has some restaurants that are really good, but if you dine out often, you've likely been to them all.
And with non-rotating menus, you can easily have had most of the menu.

We cook at home every Saturday night, whereas we used to go to dinner every weekend. There are various reasons for it, but the biggest fun is being able to attempt to make anything I want.

What are the 4 or 5 restaurants that are mentioned in here? Don't feel like reading the whole thread
