Does anyone know if the marinated skirt steak or flank steak at Ideal Market is any good? I am told they sell it but have never had it.

Any of their other marinated stuff any good?

Thanks

That is what I am going for.

Is it skirt or flank?

And is there only one marinade?

Don’t forget to load up on 15 limes for $1.

And cheap avocadoes
I like the cooked chickens from the hot lunch line.

Skirt

They may have different marinades but I always get the red one. The guy at the counter will know what your talking about.

* I also picked up some Al Pastor pork one time but found it salty. Most Al Pastor I try tends to be on the salty side though so it may just be me.

I usually also pick up some containers of their store made taco salsa and pickled veggies (onion, carrot, peppers) for toppings

Cheap tortillas. They have mission brand as well as more authentic options. I usually go for the ones that look the most home made/authentic.

As others have said their citrus and veggies are pretty cheap.

Supposedly their hot plate lunches are bomb too but I never am able to make it over there around lunch.

Yes- getting a pound of skirt from ideal is much better than getting it from any other store in my experience- the marinade is better than pretty much anything else out there and the steak is usually trimmed pretty well and ready for the fire. Whenever I get skirt from anywhere else I usually have to spend quite a bit of time trimming fat/silver skin to get it where I want before marinade. I usually grab limes, pico, tortillas, and a tallboy on my way out and I'm ready to grill in minutes with no other effort besides starting the fire.

Good to know.

This is exactly what I am looking for.

Just want to go buy some skirt steak and have it ready for the fire.

I rotated between all of their marinated protein options a few years back when I ate tacos for like 6 straight months.

Don't think I had anything I didn't like.

Whatever the kid pulls out of the garbage can is what I get. I think it's skirt and is the most expensive at around $10/lb IIRC. It's delicious. I also get the pickled onions (in the purplish liquid because of the beets) and the Honduran cream. Makes freaking fantastic tacos. I need to go this weekend.

Ideal market is great. I hosted a small gathering and had it catered by them. Got a ton of chicken and steak fajita with homemade tortillas etc. it was significantly better than the normal Tex mex spots.

Ordering over the phone was the hard part

Their plate lunches are really good. You can also get good kitchen gadgets, like grill brushes and juice squeezers for cheap.
I live fairly close to La Morenita, so they get most of my business. But Ideal Market is better in terms of selection, price, etc.

I saw they were building out one on Burbank near Gardere, but I haven’t seen any movement on it in a while.
