I would pick all of the ingredients in advance so people have time to plan their dish, and to prep it at home before they come over. Then do the actual cooking there.
FYI: At some point I plan on bringing a version of the Chopped Challenge back but in a completely different format. No voting, no picking ingredients. I will pick 4 ingredients. Everyone can discuss what they would do. If anyone wants to participate they can post in the thread their pictures of what they did, etc. Simpler.

Essentially yes.
