I haven't had Gatlin's, so I can't comment. But, I can say that Killen's is out of this world good. I haven't been impressed with much as far as BBQ in Houston, and I've lived in Pearland for about 12 years. But Killen's is the real deal. It's odd that Houston doesn't have better BBQ on the whole, being TX and all. The only bad thing about Killen's is that it's almost always over an hour wait unless you go at 3:00 in the afternoon. Even then the line is out the door. Also, they don't do dinner, so don't plan for that if you are making the trip.

No, but it's on the list for my next trip. Every Saturday for lunch, we are right next door for basketball with my little one and every Saturday we say, let's do BBQ. Until we see the line going down the sidewalk and around the corner. Even in the rain, it's crazy.

The bark on their brisket is like candy. Unreal.

I have felt this same exact way after living here for 12 years. But I must be an idiot b/c Killens is a 10 minute ride from work for me, and I've never been. I know where I'm having lunch tomorrow.

I agree the line is annoying. I went at 1:30 in the afternoon and waiting about 20 minutes to get through the line. Dat Beef Rib was worth it. that thing is about 20 oz.

It's crazy that Houston isn't just crawling with good BBQ places. Anyhow, weekdays at Killen's are supposed to be a little better than weekends as far as the wait, but still be prepared for a line especially if it's around noon. Give yourself enough time where you don't have to be rushed. It's worth it as far as I'm concerned.

Or anything there really...just don't make plans. We had lunch there one day and had a tee time that afternoon. I want to say it was the fourth hole when we all agreed to pack it in and head to the bar. If I was on death row and had to choose my last meal, Killen's would be on my short list.
