Good fried shrimp, I can eat plain with a touch of lemon, maybe some fresh tartar but mostly plain.

Tartar sauce varies in flavor based upon the recipe used to make it. You may just have a knack for finding stuff that tastes bad to you. An onion dominant flavored sauce works just fine. Too much sweet pickle or capers in it the stuff takes on a cloying emphasis.

lemon juice and then dipped in a mix of ketchup and tartar sauce.
