I worked in the ER at Charity in the early 80s. The trend frequently resulted in badass injuries. Common denominator was beer.

I introduced my in laws and family to this delicacy 15 years ago and now we have multiple burners going every Thanksgiving. These yanks huddle around the pots like its some sort of camp fire, marveling at the process. It has morphed into, the Aunts/Uncles/friends/neighbors coming to my house the night before Thanksgiving with their turkeys to be injected and rubbed. Their cost is a bottle of wine/whiskey and peanut oil. They bring their turkeys home, then come over again the next day to pick up the finished product. It's the craziest thing and has made me some sort of a neighborhood legend. Crazy, I tell ya.
