Yea, OffShore nailed it as usual. Only place I would add to his list is Pax Americana. Its been my go to work dinner lately and never disappoints.

Breweries-8th Wonder, Brash, Karbach (ZOMG they sold out), St. Arnold's of course, Eureka Heights

Whole Foods on post oak too, especially on $2 Thursday but it t gets pretty packed around 5/6.

I'd put their beer up against any.

This. They brew the best overall hoppy beers in the Houston area, while Brash brews the best stouts.

Brash happy hour on Fridays is legit. $3 pints, which includes all their beers, even their imperial stouts.

Hottest restaurant list

LINK

Essential Houston Restaurant List
LINK
and interesting that neither list includes what many think is both the hottest and best restataurant in Houston right now - State of Grace
LINK Which does have a oyster room and happy hour special you might consider checking out.

Half of that Eater Hottest List are chains.

Snooze, Shake Shack, Cane Rosso, Liberty Kitchen (quality of these places has gone downhill IMO).

4/15 = 50%?

Don't really consider Liberty a chain either. Agree Shake Shack is a chain. Snooze is, but its the only one in Texas.

I'd go to Burger Joint, Lankford, or Stanton's over Shake Shack.

I like Pizarro's and Luna more than Cane Rosso.

Snooze is still great. I don't think the quality has gone down hill. I guess we'll see when the new location opens in the Heights.

While I enjoy several things at Liberty, I've never been as high on it as other people.

ETA - Well, it is a "hottest" list and even if they're chains, the best options, or whatever, they're still some of the busiest/hottest restaurants in town. While I disagree with a few on the 38 essential restaurants, it's still a pretty solid list.

If you liked Mala (or Sichuan in general) I'd highly recommend Cooking Girl. It was even better in my opinion.

I've never had green Sichuan peppercorns anywhere else.

Hell I'd go to Mia's or Becks Prime before Shake Shack.

Luna is fantastic. Pi Pizza has some interesting choices as well.

We are doing Mala and Himilaya again for sure but have numerous others to fill.

Skip Mala...do Cooking Girl or Pepper Twins. Get the masala spiced chicken fried steak at Himalaya....why? Because why not.
