For me, the poboy beats just the tamales alone. I find them to be quite firm when eaten by themselves. But that is actually a good thing on a poboy because you don't want the filling to ooze out when you take a bite. The greasiness seems less because it gets absorbed into the bread. And the chili sauce and cheese make it that much better.
ETA: It's not seasonal. And I may have posted about it before when I first had it a couple of years ago.
