Planned a quick couple's trip, where to eat-any cuisine? Also, what are the must do's? Looking to get some "mountain time" in, where are the waterfalls, clear mountain streams/lakes to go to? Bath houses aren't all that interesting to us, we'll probably check them out but we are more interested in driving to the mountains & seeing nature. Also, is 3 nights enough or 4 nights, don't want to get bored. TIA

Sister and brother in law just went up there. If you go to Little Rock, they said make sure to go to Lostforty Brewing company, good beers and food.

I think I would be bored in Hot Springs for that long, especially if you aren't really interested in the bath houses.

Check out McClard's BBQ. Heads up: it's cash only... or at least it used to be.

One of the bath houses has a brewery/distillery now, might be worth checking out... wasn't there when I went several years back.

We went last month and went to the Superior Bathhouse Brewery. They had a selection of their own brews and several others to choose from on tap. Had pretty good food as well. I had a Reuben sandwich that was very good.

We're going to Little Rock in about a month. A friend who went up there for his job said he couldn't find hot springs in Hot Springs. Are there spas where you can just sit in a hot spring and relax? Which ones are the best?

I don't know man, you will have to drive a ways to find cool mountain water. Straight north to mountain home buts it's a lest 1'1-2 drive. Hot Springs is a hot place in July. I was ther in 2012 and it was 114. Good luck.

My grand folks live on Lake Ouachita and it is beautiful there. I mountain biked the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail(LOViT) and it was great. A lot of lake views and creek crossings. Not any huge climbs or chunk sections so I imagine almost any skill level could do it. Park Cycles is a good bike shop to talk to about trails if biking is your thing. There is also the Womble trail about 40 minutes west of Hot Springs that is great also. I was going to race it on my single speed so again there isnt much chunk or bad climbs. I find the food in Hot Springs and the surrounding area to be poor at best. McClures is the big draw and it is pricey and poor imho. The bath houses are downtown and worth checking out for a couple hours, my wife really likes them. We usually fish for crappie in the winter and bream in the summer. Bream will be hitting on worms in about 15' or so of water.

I have spent a good bit of time up there and find that the further north and west you go the prettier it gets. Eureka Springs is amazing but about 2 hours or so from Hot Springs but well worth the time and effort to go. Lake Hamilton will be packed if you are going soon. Lake Ouachita will be crowded but not as bad. Also you can camp on the islands in the lake.

What ever you do, don't buy any Diamond Bear beer, it is awful and I have tried to like it several times.

Haven't been there in around 20 years, but the Cajun Boiler, by Lake Hamilton, used to be worth a trip. It's owner/chef was an Abbeville native and it showed.
