if someone was coming from the northshore and was asking for restaurants near the base of the causeway, you wouldn't recommend R&O's as a restaurant near there? wut now

Excellent choice. I've eaten a lot of po-boys from there, and their muffaletta is excellent too. It's changed hands from the original owners, but still a good sandwich shop.

had it last year when I was back in town for Mardi Gras, still not bad. Still recognized some faces.

There was a married couple that ran (owned) it for years, he was in the kitchen she sat on the cash register. I think he got cancer and died and she sold not long after that.

Yeah, they aren't going anywhere. I live less than a mile from Mandina's. There's a ton of good locally owned and operated places in Mid-City where a great, affordable meal can be had.
