Not really N.O., but I can never go that direction without hitting Kenner Seafood for a fried Shrimp Po-boy.

I'm a big supporter of Ye Olde Collge Inn...I've only been post-Katrina so I cannot compare to what it was before...seems like a lot of people who dismiss this place haven't been since they reopened after the hurricane. The fried oyster po'boy with havarti cheese and bacon is good, but I rather get a dish than a po'boy at Ye Olde. Their entrees are nothing fancy and outstanding, but it's always consistent and delivers. The Carrollton Chop is an excellent pork chop dish, and the breaded veal cutlet is also very good. Those are usually the 2 dishes I get and I may go about once every 2 months. In my opinion, it is one of the most underrated restaurants in Nola.

Mahony's is good and a great place to get specialty po' boys. My favorites over there are the root beer glazed Chisesi's ham & cheese, cochon w/ creole-slaw, and the grilled shrimp w/ fried green tomatoes and remoulade. Mahony's also carries w/ it the distinction as being one of the pricier po' boys in town, but it's worth it.

Domilise's is good for shrimp, oyster, or catfish. NOT so much for their roast beef. It gets a lot of hate on this board, but you can't go wrong with the 3 aforementioned.

Guy's has an excellent grilled catfish/fried shrimp po' boy. I think it's called The Bomb or something like that.

Jacques-Imo's is worth a visit, but be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes if you arrive anywhere from 6:30-9pm. And go on an empty stomach.

If ever getting dinner, I would recommend Mayas on Magazine and Dick & Jenny's on Tchoup.

The SO and I ate at Ruby Slipper Cafe on Magazine today. It was a reasonably-priced, breakfast/brunch/"American" restaurant, and absolutely delicious. Wayyy better breakfast/brunch than Stanley's.

Definitely one of the better restaurants I've been to in NOLA.

The Basic Breakfast. The eggs were phenomenal, and tasted like there was extra milk or something. They MELTED in my mouth. Biscuits were amazing, as well.

The SO had a burger and fries. Fries were like Rally's old fries...with that cajun flavor? Absolutely delicious. Burger ruled, too.

Glad you liked it. I hang with the Mid-City krewe from time to time. Solid place.
