I went to that location a while back and a very nice black woman had just taken over with all her own new employees.. but I couldn't tell if she meant she was the new owner of the new GM.

Unfortunately, the food I got was not very good at all.

I like cyp, would suck to see them leave white star because they are always a good option there.

BUT i wonder if they moved into a regular brick and mortar if their menu would grow and i would welcome that.

I haven't been in BR for a couple years, City Pork use to be packed pretty consistently. Does no one go there anymore?

I go to Georges occasionally for a Shrimp Poboy, but have never been to City Pork next door.

Not sure, but it doesn’t get mentioned here like it did 3-4 years ago

That black lady was there last time I was there and she was very nice. I was sitting outside by myself for an early lunch and she checked on me a couple of times and chatted for a moment. I got the impression that she was very conscientious and caring about my experience. Food was still exactly what I was used to from previous visits.

From The Advocate:

quote:

City Pork Deli & Charcuterie will be seeking another location with the upcoming closure of its Perkins Road Overpass restaurant, which will be occupied in May by Chow Yum Phat

quote:

Hightower said he decided to close the restaurant at 2363 Hollydale Ave. on April 20 because his lease is up for renewal and there’s “so much uncertainty” about leasing space near the Perkins Road Overpass.

He says he has concerns about the I-10 construction and how that will affect parking.

quote:

Hightower also operates City Slice Pints & Pizza at LSU’s North Gates and is developing Rouj Creole, a Creole-inspired restaurant set to open in Perkins Rowe next month.

Is that's what is going in at the old Applebee's?

The last time I went there a month or so ago, nobody in the place looks like they couldn't care less if the joint burned down around them.

The hamburger I got was good though, but the vibe was not especially since we were the only table in there.

One weird thing, the cook came out from the kitchen just as I had taken my first few bites and asked if it was good since it looked so good when he was cooking it. I almost offered him a bite.

Usually did brunch there every so often on the weekends we were in town. Always good.

This guy always has something coming or going and never seems to get it consistently right. Always moving to the next great thing instead of making what he has great.

Is it confirmed they’ll close their white star market location? Or are they just branching out?

Ordered to go from that city pork a couple of weeks ago and the sandwiches we got still seemed similar to what they’ve offered the last few years. Big pig and brisket sandwiches were great.

There's a limited menu City Pork in the Design building on campus now and City Slice is on Chimes. I don't know if those places opening cut into the business near the overpass or not.

Advocate article simply says lease is up and he’s looking to move down Perkins away from upcoming construction.

Damn it CP! Get your crap together.

I used to love this place, but they can’t seem to decide what they want to be. I miss their old brunch.
