A friend of mine went..
Stated that the thin fried catfish was good.
And apparently they put cracklins on the house salad that were damn fine.

Some of y'all may know this, but the name of the big strip club in Birmingham is Sammy's. I think there's one in Fort Walton as well. A group of us guys went down to Baton Rouge a couple of months after the flood to help with recovery a few years ago. Mostly doing some tearout of water damaged drywall in houses, and one day we were actually installing new drywall in a house that was ready for it.

We were all from the Birmingham area, and asked one of the local guys where we could go eat one night. He recommended Sammy's, and a couple of us laughed. We had to explain to him the strip club where we're from was named that. As each guy came out of the shower area at the church we were bunking in, we told him we were going to Sammy's just to see their reaction. We all went, and the food was good. One guy said we should play credit card roulette, and whichever card the waitress picks up is who pays. Some were all in on it, a few said there was no way, because their wife, thinking they were on a mission trip of sorts with a religious group, would inevitably see a $200+ charge on his card to Sammy's in Baton Rouge and he just couldn't risk that.

By comeback do you mean is the food as great as it was at one time - in my opinion no, they haven't made a comeback

try to find out where the catfish was raised, not processed, raised -

I don’t think the catfish thing is new - I’m sure at the end of its tenure under the former owner, Sammy’s was using cheap (foreign) catfish

However, I cannot say that for a fact bc I never cared for sammy’s anyway, and did not go too often

Unfortunately the rule says restaurants have to inform you of where the shrimp and crawfish come from

Considering how bad the food was during the last couple years at Sammys then yea its better but its still a jack of all trades menu...master of none. George's has a better burger...Chimes and Parrains better seafood and we have a ton of options for boiled crawfish in the area now. I did like their hamburger and chicken fried steak but they raised the price of one and eliminated the other.

Why is this unfortunate?? I spent 25 years in the seafood business selling shrimp and fish (domestic and imports) to restaurant chains and supermarkets across the country. If you saw what I did you would want to know where the hell your food comes from.

It’s unfortunate bc the rule only applies to shrimp and crawfish - it should apply to ALL seafood

I work in the food industry - I’ve probably seen a lot of what you saw

Managed and bought for a restaurant back in the day. The seafood business is one of the scummiest businesses out there.

You think you are getting USDA catfish, what you are really getting is Basa, a vietnamese catfish raised on human sewage, dung flour, and fish carcasses with the added bonus of human urine injected as growth hormone.

Sound tasty?

The one in Prairieville is a huge eye sore. The whole damn property looks like crap.

That location was complete crap from the day they opened until the day they closed. Still not sure why it was so much worse than Zachary and Central.

In Louisiana if it is sold as catfish it has to actually be catfish not Basa, Swai, or any other species. See the link below from a sting LDWF did.
