The hostess is quite often someone too young and/or inexperienced to wait tables. Not sure why assuming something that’s true most of the time is so interesting.

I find it interesting because assumptions aren’t always true but if we say something enough it becomes true.

Are you implying they had some duty to recognize your call or make arrangements given your advance notice...like a reservation...which they don't take

That is kind of funny. Calling a place that doesnt take reservations to let them know that youre coming with a party of 8 at 8pm on a weekend night.

Just checking as I have worked in the service industry and still have several friends that do.

Head chefs don't randomly just leave the kitchen. More likely he was made aware that someone was being an arse to an employee and he stepped in.

There is also a strong likelihood they ran out of those thing during your hour wait.
Her job is to get you to a table not keep you updated on the larders.
