And I kept tasting the bottle cap near halfway down. You know how sometimes there is a 'bottle cap' taste on the first swig. Rarely does it go beyond that. The Envie I had was bottled 3 weeks ago, so I don't think it was because of the age. Anyone else been having a problem with this? Really wish Parish would go to cans now.

ABInbev bought all the hops in the world so now craft brewers are having to turn to other sources for their beer's flavor profile. Bottle caps are often used in lieu of hops because they are plentiful around most breweries.

I had an Envie at their taproom last weekend, your issue must be exclusive to bottled beer. Yesterday, at my home, I enjoyed a bottled GITM, didn't notice the "bottle cap" taste...

I haven't either with my last GITM and NV.

Cool, and thanks! I had my second today, and the taste was still there. Might have been a bad batch of caps.

Parish will be canning Envie, Canebrake & South Coast starting this month. Not sure when it hits distro?
This is part of their growth strategy expanding into Texas, Mississippi & Alabama.

I bought some mid-November and mid-December Envie and both tasted metallic. They looked fine in the glass and smelled good, but tasted like nickels.

Same experience here. Anyone notice that their Opus Vert tasted like an Envie?

Yeah Opus isn't worth the price lately. Tastes nothing like it originally did.

Glad someone posted this because I had two Envie last night and my immediate reaction was a weird nickel/copper taste. Figured it was just a bad few bottles or my taste was fricked but seeing this makes me feel better lol

Yeah Opus is not very good at all. Not entirely sure what changed or happened to this batch but it is just hard to drink which is why there are shelf turds everywhere.

It’s a bottle washing issue when there is a metallic taste to the beer

Sent Parish an email and got this back:

First of all, thank you very much for buying our beer. As a small company, we depend on and value your business. Also thanks for the feedback, we really want your experience with our beer to be perfect. Investigating your complaint, we just pulled a few bottles from the 12/13 batch and I can assure you the batch of beer does not have any metallic off flavors and in fact tastes delicious to the 3 brewers here who I just blind sampled. We have occasionally experienced a metallic taste on the rim of the bottle from the caps if they corrode from sitting in water or getting too wet for too long - for example beer bottles left in an ice chest with melted ice for a few days will have this. Do you think the caps were corroded excessively or did you observe any on the edges of the cap? If there is a concern about corroded caps, pouring the beer into a glass could definitely tell you if the issue is a residual metallic taste on the rim of the glass bottle or not. If you have time to do so, please pour into a glass, taste, and let me know! Cheers!

Bought the beer at Oak Point Central and it was on the shelf and not in a cooler. I haven't tried pouring one in a glass yet. Since I'm not the only one here that's experienced the problem, I don't think it's as simple as Andrew indicated. Whatever, I'll try something again in the future and if it sucks I'll bring it back to the store.

I've been drinking bottled beer most of my life and I don't think I have ever once experienced this:

Well guess what? Envie will be in cans here pretty soon and hopefully they don't leave a bottle cap taste in the beer.
