Where can I find the best grilled oysters on the Mississippi
Gulf coast or around the Covington area?

Thanks in advance

Are you passing through or do you live in the area?

Some chargrilled oysters are better than others but not all that much of a variance in the standard version with butter and parmesan.

Damn near every restaurant in BSL sells them, best is subjective. Some folks think Trapani’s has the best ones around, they’re more traditional than other local offerings.

ETA: If you’re local buy the IQF packaged ones from Crystal Seas and make them yourself. Couldn’t be easier.

I think the best possible scenario is getting a seat at the chef’s bar at the Thorny Oyster and ordering their grilled oysters. You can watch them being grilled, and they smell amazing.

200 N Beach has an oyster bar with a grill as well. I’d probably stick my head in TBT to see if they have them on the special board (they have recently)...or just go to Trapani’s if Thorny is not open/available.

Surprisingly my favorite chargrilled oysters I've had came from Saltine right there in Jackson. They cooked with a White Alabama BBQ sauce and they were fantastic.

If you want to make a trip down and enjoy some good scenery I'd recommend a chargrilled oyster afternoon at several of the restaurants located right next to each other in downtown BSL by the bay. In particular the Thorny Oyster.

Smoke (Thorny Oyster crew) has an Alabama White sauce on a ton of their offerings...and the BBQ Depot (200 N B crew) pushes it as well.

They’re insane if they think I’m eating that abomination.
