A buddy has been ordering farmed oysters from the East Coast of late. Wanting some really good oysters, I was about to follow suit earlier this week.

Then I changed course and ordered some Southern Belles out of Grand Isle. The process was easy, quick and comparatively cheap. I ordered online Wednesday, my order was harvested and shipped yesterday, and they’ll be delivered this afternoon...to my front door.

An order of 80 was a buck apiece, with $20 shipping. An awesome deal. Oysters of this quality are going to be 3x that cost retail.

Check them out if you love good oysters. Place an order for a special Louisiana product and reap a reward, I’ll bump this later this evening with a report and photo.

Update:

Eighty oysters delivered this afternoon. They are excellent. Very good salinity, bright taste...clean and fresh flavored. The oysters are uniform, clean and easy to open.
These oyster are excellent on the half shell. That’s what they’re grown for.

I’ll definitely order again. [/img]

I don't think they harvest daily, though I'm not sure. I'm sure they can provide a schedule of when orders can be filled. I got instant feedback from my request.

How do you know they're good if they haven't been delivered yet

Do you know if you can get Diver Scallops from Louisiana? Where a person actually dives (scuba diver) down and harvest scallops by hand?

I ask because there was a local restaurant selling Louisiana Diver Scallops on their menu. I'm sure they were Sea Scallops, but really doubted the Diver Scallops claim.

Guys and gals , this is a fine Louisiana enterprise. The market has to be tight for oystermen everywhere. Consider shopping the net and having a wonderful product shipped to your doorstep....these are local and excellent. East coast oysters are also readily available and uniformly excellent.

Do a good turn. Shop for some oysters soon.

Otis I've got just enough cabernet in me to be fast and loose with my internet clicking (buying.) I tried to go to their website but it's down. Do you know if they have a minimum order quantity?

ETA I guess I could eat 80 in 2 days.

I do not,but I’m pretty sure they’ll sell 2 dozen and up. Go to the FB page and send a message. They’ll respond.

I've actually got my 16 year old daughter loving oysters on the half shell. Makes me proud. Maybe we'll have an oyster night with oysters from grand isle. I'm gonna make it happen.

My 6 year old started loving chargrilled oysters recently. Never thought of ordering them for delivery

Great family and great oysters. I’ve got to spend some time with these guys at Oyster events the past couple years. Very humble and hard workers. I know they appreciate the support.

OTIS2 I don’t want to violate any of Chicken’s policies on self advertising. We are currently working on direct shipping options as all of our Oyster sales were to restaurants in the past. I’m located on Mobile Bay in Ft Morgan.
