Buddy of mine told me about Weller 12 and got me hooked on looking for it. I had zero luck at any shop I went to. Finally made a good connection with the local store owner and he hooked it up. My understanding is that it comes from the same recipe for Pappy which is one of Buffalo Trace's higher end bourbons. I'm just now getting into the "whiskey circuit" so felt pretty good about getting a Weller 12.

What are you whiskey connoisseurs big fans of and/or in search of currently?

Cheers

Where? It's pretty tough to find around the area. I've only got a few shots left of the one I purchased earlier this year.

Found about 12 bottles a few weeks ago. Bought one as a wedding gift for a friend. Guess I should have bought more.

Bowmore 12 year is one of my absolute favorites. Very peaty, but smooth.

You wanna make a trip to Houston? haha

I haven't cracked it open yet. Not so much because of the quality, but more so cause it's just tough to find like you said. I'm a sucker for the sleek black label on the bottle also ha.

Sort of but not exactly. I have mixed Wellers Antique w/ Wellers 12 at a 60/40 ratio to make Po Man's Pappy. The mix is a closer approximation of the grain bill and proof of Pappy 15.

If you have facebook, try joining the Bourbon Hounds of Houston group. You'll always be up to date when new releases hit the stores around the area. I was able to pick up a few Four Roses barrel selections from Spec's last week by following that group.

And I'll bite at the OP's question. Whiskey of choice is Elmer T Lee and wish list is PVW15

If you're close by, try the store at intersection of Louetta/Grant next to Kroger.

Shoot, I played at Longwood a couple weekends ago. Otherwise it’s a little bit of a hike for me to get out there and I avoid 290 like redhead strippers
