Looking for a little mom and pop on the old route. Looking to take a break from Old Rail even though it's great.

Reigers (sp?) on the Trace is new but I haven’t tried it yet (They have Creole Creamery ice cream). Also try Hambone.

Reigers

This place looks nice, was checking it out last weekend at the farmers market.

I didn't see anything on the menu that jumped out at me.

To the OP, if you're willing to drive north the Abita Cafe is fantastic.

I'm also a big fan of Assunta's of you're looking for italian.

Phil's Marina Café. Serve lots of very good seafood dishes and is priced to not break the bank for what you get. One of my favorite places when over that way.

Best restaurant in Mandeville imho. Their fried boudin app is orgasmic

We went to Da Crab Trap. Crawfish was served cold (5lbs) but tasty enough. Plenty cayenne. Waitress was a peach. How big is the sin of serving room temperature crawfish? We serve it piping hot at our boils.

If you ever want some home cooking, go to the gas station across from Bayou Adventure in Lacombe. I think it is named Russell's. Really good cabbage and fried chicken and fish.
