Coming in town for a wedding Friday evening. Will probably get there a little early and want to grab a drink somewhere prior to heading to the wedding. Im probably looking more for cocktails and wine. A great tap list isn’t necessary. I know my way around lafayette, so I’m not super picky about where it is.

Since you're looking more for cocktails and wine I'd say Pour in River Ranch will be a good spot, depending on where the wedding is.

Pamplona. Best cocktails and small bites in the city.

I thought about going there, but won’t this place be insane on a Friday afternoon? FWIW, I’ve been but it was too crazy and just walked out... went into town for an Isbell concert.

What part of the town is the wedding taking place? Are you trying to get drinks close to the wedding venue or just anywhere?

Wedding is towards Scott. I’m from Acadia Parish, so I know how to get around I just don’t go as often as I used to. Also, not up to date on a whole lot of the places to go nowadays.

So, no I don’t really care where at. I’m assuming somewhere near river ranch may be best b/c I can run through towards Scott, but ultimately I just want a couple good cocktails for the wife and maybe a solid whiskey for myself. Heading back to BR after, so I won’t be doing to much sipping at the reception.

If you're not looking for good wine or good whiskey but want something close to Scott, look at Uncle T's.

Otherwise pop into Social and hang out at the bar.

ETA: Uncle T's is probably 5 minutes from your destination and River Ranch and beyond may be 20-40 minutes from your destination.

We mighta been there at the same time

In all seriousness, Pamplonas is awesome. I've never been to Social, but I've heard it's pretty good.

I second Uncle T's if you want to drink close to the wedding; they have decent cocktails. If you purely want to go somewhere for people watching with more of a crowd, probably Social/Corner Bar/Tap Room/POUR.

Dated a little lady from Opelousas for a while back in the day.... ran the roads a good bit out there.

Is uncles Ts the kind of joint one can go in a suit and I won’t have to prove I’m from Acadia Parish to not get into a fight.

You will most certainly be the only one in a suit. Their clientele is mostly the same type of people you'd see at a Walk Ons. Usually half the place is families with kids. You certainly won't have to worry about a fight.
