Heading in from Dallas and passing near Shreveport now. Wondering if any good places between here and BR. Know Joey Dreyfus' closed to down in Livonia years ago and I know Lea's Lunchroom. Any others?

Uncle Albert's fried chicken in Boyce is some of the best I've had. I like their rice, also.

Janohn's right across the street from Uncle Albert's is good if you want a sit down restaurant that's nice.

I read that the restaurant in the Hotel Bentley opened in Alexandria downtown which should be not far off 49. Don't know anything else about it, though.

I've been making the drive between Baton Rouge and Shreveport for years. There is not that much to choose from. It seems Alexandria would do better, given its size.

French Market Express in Natchitoches for the meat pies and loaded potatoes. Kartchners in Krotz Springs for the boudin balls and cracklins. Bourques Grocery in Port Barre' for the sausage stuffed bread. Bergerons in Port Allen for the plate lunch.

I used to drive Baton Rouge to Shreveport every week.
