Staying in DC by convention center. Is there any recommendation for a good bar with scenery?

The W Hotel rooftop bar (near the White House) has one of the the best views in DC. But be prepared, you pay for that view. The drinks aren't cheap (ex. $9 for a Stella).

And he appears

These places rock: Top of the Gate and Bar Deco

Not on the roof but one of our favourite places is the Hay–Adams Hotel bar-food, Off the Record.

Yea. If you are looking for a bar with a view, the one at the W is very nice. We stayed at the Willard next door ( old historic bar but with no view) and would go to the W for cocktails.

Sorry to hijack the thread but we are heading to DC in a few weeks. What are the can't miss places to eat.

Our kids are coming (8 and 10) but they aren't too picky.

I’m not a local but my recs are:
Founding farmers
Download the food truck app. They are everywhere and will be the cheapest/best quality food

I was there last weekend for Sunday brunch and it was absolutely slammed, so obviously it's popular. However, I found the food (while reasonably priced for DC) somewhat overrated. Not bad. But nothing special either. The only knock was that the service sucked. I know they were crowded, but it shouldn't take 15 minutes just to get a cup of coffee.

One spot I which I could have spent a little more time is the 14th Street/Logan Circle area. Yes, it's a gentrified hipster neighborhood, but it had some really interesting restaurants and bars. Tried to sneak into Le Diplomate (after not being able to get a reservation 2 weeks out) with no luck. So we headed over Birch & Barley which was pretty good rustic/home style food (with a heavy does of hipster pretentiousness, but still good nonetheless). If you just want to hang out and bar hop on a weeknight or Saturday that probably wouldn't be a bad location to check out.
