One day, I HOPE to eat at the Chef's Table. We ate in the regular dining room. It was a 7 course meal with wine pairings. We picked from a small selection on the menu for each course. Everything was cooked and served to perfection. We have three people waiting on us hand and foot. Like I said before, one of the best meals that have ever crossed my lips. Is that better?
Also, yes it was FREAKING AWESOME

Yeah.. Been wanting to do that as well ..Everything off menu and being able to watch a true artist work appeals to me.

My in-laws gave my wife and I a chef's table experience 2 years ago as an anniversary gift. It was one of the best food experiences of my life. They come out and have a glass of wine with you and just talk to you about food allergies, likes/dislikes, where you're from, what kind of food you regularly eat and what kind of food you would like to regularly eat. After about 20 minutes they have what they need and then get to work. Us being from New Orleans and telling him of our love for pretty much all seafood gave him a broad spectrum to work from. We had things like Fugu pate, some oyster dish with fennel and prosciutto in a puff pastry that is still one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. All while having a world class chef shoot the shite with you about what he's doing, where the food is from and why he's using certain ingredients. It was an amazing experience but if you don't have an adventurous palate it might not be for you.

I'm really pumped about the Yachtsman and Citricos. These are the only two that I haven't tried yet. We do Cali Grill every year but it almost fell off the list for Narcoossees's this year but I was outvoted.
I'd definitely like to try Narcoosee's at some point...but would easily "settle" for Citrico's again. Trying to remember what we had..... Menu
We did a cheese course for an appetizer. I had a seafood dish with fish and scallops over cous cous....it MAY have been the Oak-grilled Florida Swordfish...but I can't remember the fish that was used. The wife had a steak which she loved. For dessert, we got the Granny Smith Apple Sorbet.
At the Yachtsman steak house ( Menu), I've been twice. Both times i got the Lobster Bisque and would get it again. I got something very similar to the 12-oz Prime NY Strip once and then a 24-oz porterhouse another time....that was special. I can't really remember dessert....but I didn't care. I was there for the steak. My wife got a steak with blue cheese butter that she still raves about to this day.

That's what she said.

What did that cost?
No idea of the final cost. I know it's $250 per person just to make the reservation and it doesn't include the wine pairings. For the 4 of us it had to easily be $1500.

Yeah I will probably get the rib eye or the filet at Yachtsman. We like to go over the menus about two weeks out from the trip and decide what we want before we get there. Subject to change of course.

Obviously. I think, if I remember correctly, Yachtsman always has a few off-menu offerings to tempt you. That's where the 24-oz porterhouse came into play for me.

That is a big hunk of meat. Right about at what I grill at home. It would be nice if they still have it. Thanks for the info! I'll have to ask and see, if its not offered up front.

Perusing the menus posted and just wondering, exactly how much should I person plan to spend on food at Disney?
Those prices are sort of shocking and equivalent to the highest end restaurants in any city not named New York, San Francisco, or Las Vegas.

Depends on how many times you eat in the upper tier places and drink alcohol. For 2 people at the normal places like Tony's and Be our Guest it will be about $40-$50. The nicer places will be over $100.

This. We typically limit our "table service" outings to 2 or 3 times in a trip when we aren't using the dining plan. Other times we just find counter service to eat.

The way I do is, I book a dining plan (one quick service, one table service, and one snack) and I order the most expensive item, usually a steak, at every table service meal. I convince my ol lady to do the same. We are talking our 3yr old son for the first time this year and he's a specific eater (grilled cheese and chicken fingers), so I'm pretty sure we won't get our money's worth on his plan.

This where all the trashy people talk about how awesome Disney World is?
No really, don't expected to be blown away by food there and you may be pleasantly surprised.

That's definitely the way to do it. But I pretty much won't purchase the dining plan. I'll only take it if the free dining is offered.

We already booked and paid for our trip but we will do the dining plan if it is "free" again this year. Adding up our receipts from last year, the plan saved us about 30% vs OOP.

Can anyone recommend me some good places to eat?
I travel to Orlando for work...way more than I like to or than anyone who is single should. But that being said. I would highly recommend downtown Celebration if no one has yet. It has 4 restaurants all around a lake. American, italian, columbian and thai. Its kind of a hidden gem in the chain restaurant hell that is Orlando. Hope this helps at least for one night.
