Gosh, I love a good old school shrimp mold.
Lazy apps: pickapepper sauce over cream cheese w/crackers, or pepper jelly & cream cheese. Never goes uneaten.

But I love a good relish tray: cornichons, pickled onions, dilly beans, pickled okra, pickled quail eggs (cut in half), good olives, maybe some Vietnamese style picked daikon and carrot. I like the sharp flavors to cut through the heavy, fatty flavors of so many holiday apps.

Also firmly in the old-school camp: a brimming bowlful of peeled jumbo shrimp & a couple different cocktail sauces, or red & white remoulades.

Marinate the livers in some teriyaki is an added touch..

Chili cream cheese dip

Spread one package of neufchatel cheese or cream cheese in a microwavable pan
Spread one can of hormel turkey chili with beans on top
Cover with shredded mexican or monterey jack cheese
Microwave 3 minutes

Serve with tortilla chips

Yes, the ingredients sound horrible but it is awesome and easy. It always is gone in 30 minutes everytime I make it.
