Yeah, that site I linked points out the most hilarious stuff. I can spend hours on there.

Am sure it has been mentioned on here, but the expansion of the Food Network empire over the brand of its chefs was one of the main reasons Emeril and others have parted ways.

Not only does FN want to dumb down your food, slap a McCormick sticker on it, and package it with closeup B footage, but they want your name and image on pots, pot holders, cookbooks, sauces, etc...

Some chefs played, others did not.

I know that's Bourdain's main beef with Food Network. And I agree with him that people like Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee try to dumb down food too much. I am all about simplicity and having quick recipes, but buying a STORE BOUGHT angel food cake and slapping berries on it is NOT creative or what I call a recipe.

No argument here. Just commenting that FN has a much broader scope than just putting out crappy tv shows. They also want to put out crappy expensive products.

FN parent company did buy Travel Channel so we'll see where Borudain ends up.

Exactly.

I see they're adding Ree Drummond from Pioneer Woman to the lineup, and that's going to pretty much be the death of her. While she's not some "amazing" chef, I like what she does on her Pioneer Woman website.

It's meals that are interesting and yummy.. with enough ease that a working mother could make them. But they're going to ruin her by putting her on Food Network.

The best cooking shows are on PBS or Create.

Create is somehow affiliated with PBS ( I think). It is mostly home repair, garden, painting, cooking and travel shows. On cox it is channel 112 (in New Orleans).

Look into it, great cooking programs. Bayless, Ripert, Julia Child, Ming Tsai, Lidia Bastianich.

Basically most of the people who got run out of mainstream food media for not being attractive enough.

Create is on LPB3 in BR. I'm pretty sure it is channel 123 with Cox.

You'll probably love it LL. I agree that the PBS and Create shows are much better than the FN shows. The personalities are not nearly as annoying.

GD's overpronunciation of Italian words and her overly expressive smile make her hard to watch for me. Unless the tv's muted.

I can't help but laught when she is talking naturally and when she comes across a common Italian word she goes way overboard. It's almost like she is mocking herself.
