There is nothing at Philays worth ordering. Nothing.

Update: tried out Rio Verde mexican grill, and it was definitely some of the best Mexican food I've had in the BR area. Margs are STRONG

Margs and appetizers about the only thing I like from them, most of what I eat I prefer Casa Maria over Rio. But Rio has a decent outdoor area to eat and drink and live music 4 days a week

their grande burrito is really good and it's frickin huge! no one person should eat that much in one sitting.

Not sure what all are expecting from a sandwich shop, but I could eat John Michael's every day. The pasta salad is awesome.
You can't mess up a simple meatball sandwich or cubano or chicken alfredo.
THe meatball alfredo on poboy is my favorite.
The place is packed every single day for lunch, and they are constantly sending out to go orders. And yes i agree the service is rather crappy. They are far too busy to allow a couple of high school kids to run the show up front.
