re: Garden planning

That's going to be a shite ton of rosemary. I've recently discovered how to "dry" it. I put on latex gloves and strip the needles from top to bottom. Those needles go into the microwave not for long, just until a needle breaks when bent. I'm sure you can use a mortar and pestle but I just sort of crush it with my fingers. It beats any dried rosemary I've purchased in stores.

I've got a 2800 sq/ft garden and will have the following:
Tomatoes (mainly heirlooms with the exception of Goliath)
Squash
Zucchini
Cucumbers
Okra
Eggplant
Bush beans
Crowder peas
Cream peas

I've got my tomatoes started and under a grow light indoors.

I also have some carrots in a small raised bed and potatoes in grow sacks right now.

I have always done really well with the Contender green beans.

I think I am going to plant a few tomato plants this year. What variety do you recommend for 70808?

I've got 2 10x10 gardens with worm dirt. I'll be doing Cucumbers, Eggplant, okra, bell peppers, radishes, shallots, squash, zucchini, turnips.

I agree with the poster earlier about planting this that are expensive in the stores.

What's the deal with spaghetti squash and sunchokes. I would love to plant them

I always find that rushed tomatoes are on the bland side.

FWIW, I haven't planted tomatoes in four years, they just come up on their own from fallen fruit the year before. They generally don't start coming up until May, and are bearing fruit in July.

I take that as a lesson in when they are naturally ready in my climate.

Understand that N Arky is later than S LA and that LA may actually have a dead period in summer for some, necessitating an early start due to heat/excessive rain.

I started this process last week

I only plant them if they have at least 2 eyes on them. That's what I was always told. I usually do half cuts. I'll check see if quarter cuts will be good enough. I wouldn't think it would be a problem.
