I fried a little turkey and 2 chickens for the 4th. A friend says his brother has an oil-less fryer that will give you the same finished product. Do any of you own one or have eaten bird from 1? I could use my rig for boiling and shift the money i spend on oil into the libations fund.

It really is just a roaster. I like the fryer myself. I don't use mine that often, but they do come in hand frying the birds. This Thanksgiving I'm frying a small turkey, duck and chicken.

Frying and roasting are two very different things with different results.

I enjoy my oil-less fryer. It's healthier and don't have to heat the kitchen using the oven. Turkey, chicken and pork roast all come out very good using it.

But it's not comparable to frying.

I agree.

I also find it amazing how much heat that expanded metal lid can reflect back into the pot.

I can't add anything that hasn't been said. Agree with all of it.

And this...

Yup, as others have said, it's not the exact same thing, but you can still make some delicious food with it, and it's healthier than deep frying.

I've done turkeys, chickens and pheasant in my propane oil-less fryer. I prefer it to a real fryer. Especially for the fact that you can season the exterior and don't have to inject a bunch of stuff into them.

And they're very easy to clean and keep clean.
