We are boiling for Jesus in Friday and someone ask me to add shrimp

I have done it before, but my BiL tells me he has 30-50 pounds of frozen shrimp he needs to get out the freezer

Same shite right? Add them after I cut the heat ?

More than halfway through your soak. Shrimp cook fast so don’t over cook them. Shrimp will float and be firm when they are done.

This has disaster written all over it. Adding 30-50lbs of frozen shrimp to a crawfish pot is trouble, why not cook em on their own?

At 15 lbs you will be fine. A lot of the boils I am invited to people ask me to bring the frozen shrimp frlm work we use. We put a 10pb bag in after each batch comes up. It is done in 4 minutes tops.

This

And if at all possible I do my best to avoid boiling previously frozen shrimp, even the iqf garbage from the boats. Pretty much fresh from a day boat or nothing......

If you do this, put them in some type of sack. Dont over do them. Put them in late and then take the crawfish out and if it needs to go longer, let em go a little longer.

Edit: Ive never done it, thats just what id do.

I have never had overcooked shrimp that were added during the initial soak. I put crabs and XL shrimp in at the same time to soak and both come out perfect.
