My grandmother still lives there, right on Wasp Lake across from the Jaketown Site. Like most people there, my grandparents (Carter) grew a little cotton/soy beans, so seeing that growing up was pretty neat. But if we weren't fishing, or looking for pottery/arrowheads, there wasn't just a lot to do as a kid.

Yes, but I get very little respect for posting a photo spread on how to make a BLT.

However, I can do that sometime in the next day or two if there is a need, since I have the ingredients and will probably eat one regardless. Always happy to give up the body if needed for the good of F&D.

EDIT: A BLT thread might start a fight as quickly as a gumbo thread. Bacon's serious business.

Oh and they have boiled peanuts both regular and what the deputy called Cajun. They were both ok, but I like to boil my own peanuts and you can buy nice green peanuts from lots of places here.

I try to limit my boiled peanuts to three or four times during the green season due to calories. My dad always said, "Son, you need to remember that they use peanuts to fatten up hogs in Georgia."

I don't know if they still sell them, but the farmer's market across the street from the funeral home (Lakewood) in Clinton used to have the best boiled peanuts in the area.

When I come home in November I'm definitely going by there.

There's no way of knowing how many times I saw my dad pick a fresh tomato, slice it up, Dash little salt on it, and have it for a snack.

I watched my grandfather pick a tomato, pull out his pocketknife and cut an ear of corn and drive his tractor to the back of the farm, park under a pecan tree, pull the salt shaker out of the tractor toolbox and eat both while watching his cows. Old memories.

I'm not a big okra guy but a butterbean does not last around me. Looks great MD.

Was reading this thread for the obvious reasons and came upon this. Just watched a youtube clip. Very interesting.

As to the OP, Okra looks just like my grandmother's fried okra, which I still beg her to cook.
