Looking for casual recommendations for Ft Worth/Dallas area. Will be in town with another couple for the Auburn game at the end of this month. Any suggestions?

If you can make it out to Heim, do it. Excellent brisket.

Depends on what your looking for. I will say Joe T Garcias will get recommended and its fine for margs out on the patio but the food is mediocre. For mexican, go to Mesa Maya for upscale mexmex or Los Paisanos or Los Asaderos, both in the stockyards area, for old school hole-n-the-wall texmex and mexmex.

The Woodshed gets a lot of Love....but again, its a nice patio with average food. Heim is much better barbecue.

For casual, Bearded Lady is great but I haven't been since they moved to a new location.

I live very close to the Original and it's horrible. I know old school Westside FW people love it, but it's garbage.

Same can be said about Joe T's; great atmosphere and margaritas, but the food is average.

Woodshed food is ok at best; as other said, go to Heim. Location on the river has much more seating and smaller line.

OP--where are you staying?

Zappa--food at new Bearded Lady location is pretty damn good. Agree on Mesa Maya or Mesero for more "upscale" Mexican. Love your hole in the wall recs, as always.

Fred's on Currie would be fun for lunch on Saturday or Sunday. Sit inside to get the full meth head experience. Get the patty melt or a speciality burger. Nachos are huge and delicious.

Casual dinner (most everything is casual in FW):

Lonesome Dove (Stockyards)
Clay Pigeon (not far from Downtown)
Nonna Totta (Magnolia)
Ellerbe (Magnolia)
Reata rooftop (Downtown)
Bonnell's (wild game) (SW FW)
Horseshoe Hill (Stockyards)

Not food, but we thoroughly enjoyed the bar Thompson’s in downtown Fort Worth. On the same lines as Esquire bar in San Antonio but smaller.

Heim is good but way overpriced as is everything else on Magnolia. Might as well just get the Bacon Burnt Ends there and then go somewhere else for the other stuff

Lonesome Dove is my go to when we have people in town that want a nice Fort Worth meal. It has a menu unlike anywhere else and their signature drink is the Willie. Basically a Manhattan served on a smoke filled tray to enhance the flavor.

Reata is another of my favorites and has been for many years. It’s downtown and has a much different feel.

Don’t waste your time at Joe Ts. Food actually sucks and you’ll wait in line for way too long.

He is solid as well. Only been there once but will go back.

Great suggestions so far. I'll add B&B Butchers.

The Original is the most overrated, overpriced Mexican restaurant in FW

What about Goldee's BBQ? I know Dylan Taylor just opened it with friends.
