We just bought a food dehydrator, wanted to try our hand at beef jerky. Using London Broil turned out pretty good, teriyaki and a pepper jerky. Also made some apple & banana slices.

Anyone have some other foods they tried, and how they turn out?

We live next to a peach farm, and got more than we could eat before they went bad, so I dehydrated a few. They taste like candy.

I do some fruit, mushrooms and vegetables on the dehydrator I have and at one time I was also doing jerky but decided to start doing the jerky on the smoker and it's so much better done that way.

Mostly it's now bananas, apples, plums and mushrooms with the dehydrator and when my figs came in, I'd do several batches of them to eat dried so they'd last longer.

I usually have more peppers in the garden than I can use. Dehydrate then and grind into powder seasoning.

Remove the ribs and seeds from jalapeños and the powder is good on a lot of food, especially pizza and pork.

I did that with some Ghost and Habanero peppers one time and I was home alone when I started them.

About 3 hours in, my wife came home, walked into the kitchen and started coughing and eyes watering so much I had to move the dehydrator out on the back porch to finish them off.

powdered peppers are awesome to use in cooking

These are freeze dried but the concept is the same. The powdered shishito is particularly good

also, if you have an herb garden cut a big pile of assorted herbs and dry them good then strip the leaves and lightly crush all together in a bowl. 100x better than anything you can buy in the store and you’ll use it on everything
