Food/Brewery Rec's for Atlanta and North Georgia

Going on my brothers bachelor trip this weekend to Atlanta (Friday) and will also be going white water rafting in north Georgia (Sat/Sun). Looking for some brewery recommendations and food places to stop by.

NoFo Brew Co is north of Atlanta in Cumming, GA. My brother lives on Lake Lanier and goes there pretty often.
Creature Comforts in Atlanta makes good beer. I'm sure there's more around there now.
Different towns in N. GA might have local microbreweries. I know Blue Ridge has a couple that were listed on menus around the town.

Helen, GA is supposed to be a cool town up that way.

Creature Comforts is in Athens, so no Atlanta location (weirdly, they're opening a taproom in Los Angeles).
In Atlanta -
New Realm - on the beltline, nice space, beer is fine, nothing special but a good hangout (can be very crowded)
Not far away is Torched Hop, which is more of a brewpub but they have good food and good beer, along with bocce and stuff like that.
Monday Night - one of the many westside breweries, couple of locations, one of the first Atlanta breweries to get a loyal following
Scofflaw - Another one of the westside breweries to get a big following, they now have two spots on the Westside. The original is a typical brewery/taproom, picnic tables in the parking lot with food trucks, etc. The other is a big new taproom in the Works district. A Fox Bros. BBQ with a nice bar just opened last week next to it, which will be nice going forward.
Steady Hand - This is nearby Scoff and MN and has some of the better IPA offerings. It's a small place but the interior is decent and the beer is pretty cool. There are actually several more breweries within a couple miles on the westside (second self, Atlanta Brewing, Firemaker).
Moving north, you've got Gate City in downtown Roswell which is solid and right next to everything downtown Roswell offers. Also in Roswell is Variant, which is probably the premier NEIPA brewery in GA (Wild Leap may argue that but they're not in Atlanta yet). If you go out further you've got Jekyll and some others, but they're probably not worth too much of a deviation.
And of course, in midtown/monroe you've got venerable Sweetwater. I don't think the beers are elite, but it's your typical old craft brewery with a big space that caters to things like bachelor party stops.

Agree with all that. Reformation Brewery in downtown Woodstock is solid too.

Taco Mac isn’t a brewery but you can’t go wrong with their wings and they have plenty of local beers on tap.

The pizza place in Blue Ridge(forget the name) is really good. They had a few local beers on draft when I ate there a couple of years ago.

For Druid Hills/Midtown area...
Burgers: Vortex Bar & Grill, Midtown (Peachtree) and Little 5 Points (Moreland Ave) locations. Typically have a good many local brews available.
BBQ: Fox Bros (Dekalb Ave/Little 5 Points). Can't remember what their beer menu is like.
Tacos/Mexican: Taqueria del Sol (locations in Decatur or on Cheshire Bridge Road).
The above are casual, fairly normal priced. The below are $$$ but worth it.
Steak: Kevin Rathbun Steak (Krog Street; Inman Park/Cabbagetown area) or Bones (Piedmont; Buckhead)
If you want a food coma, check out Fogo de Chao Brazillian Steakhouse on Piedmont in Buckhead.

Is El Azteca still a good spot?
Posted on 8/11/21 at 12:06 pm to Paul Allen
It's been a long time since I've been to El Azteca, so I can't really say.
I live out in the burbs now, so we get our typical Mexican fill at the typical strip mall places.
I like del Sol because of the non-traditional tacos. My honest to goodness favorite traditional/authentic tacos in town is El Rey Del Taco on Buford Highway just inside 285.

West Midtown - Atlanta Brewing, Scofflaw, Bold Monk (awesome space and food), steady hand, Monday Night
West End (Malt Disney World) - Monday Night Garage, Wild Heaven, Best End, ASW Distilling, and Boxcar (Hop City food & Beer bar) are all in the same complex. You also wouldn’t be too far from Halfway Crooks & Three Taverns Imaginarium.
Decatur/Avondale - Three Taverns, Wild Heaven, Little Cottage, Brick Store Pub (best beer bar in Atlanta), and My Parents Basement always has good beers too.
In my opinion, these are the best areas for beer in Atlanta. You can basically pick one and bounce around.
Blue Ridge - Grumpy Old Men Brewing. Sue’s Burgers, Chesters, Black Sheep, Whiskey & Water

Bold Monk is a good call, forgot about it. Worth the visit just to see the space.
