I was pleasantly surprised to see Pelican House had a 9-10 happy hour last night. It was $3.50 draft pint. I, along with a number of others in our party, ordered Enjoy Bys. The price of Enjoy By was not on the menu or on the rotating tap menu prices. Later in the night we find out happy hour pints are only for beers regularly priced under $10. Nowhere on the menu was that specified. At this point, we also find out that Enjoy By is priced at, you guessed it, $10. No advertisement on happy hour stipulations, no advertisement of the Enjoy By price, and the failure of multiple bartenders alerting us to any of this will lead to the loss in business from myself and a handful of others. I know a number already felt the same, but I can't see myself being back. The worst part was the bartender couldn't understand why we even were concerned with this strategy. Said something along the lines of "I don't know what the problem is but I guess I can get a manager" Although the $3.50 pints is a good deal

Yesterday was a shitty day. Service at red zeppelin was horrendous(food was good as usual) and then drove over to pelican house for shittier service. Won't step foot in pelican house again. That and their chicken tenders tasted like they were fried in oil from last year.

Rouses CBD had some today.

FBD Founders Centennial IPA

Very tasty IPA. Everything from Founders I've had since its arrived has been fresh, less than 30 days out.

Never had a bad experience there, but I seldom make it up that way. It probably helps that when I walk in I'm guaranteed to know a couple people working and will always get good service. I could see where that's totally not the norm, though.

That's a really shitty scheme, however, and not a great way to get return business. And that price on Enjoy By is stupid high.

They way the situation was handled kind of baffled me.

Their food is admittedly underwhelming too. Zero arguments. I only eat there if I'm hard up and realize I need something to absorb the alcohol.

I feel like they try to be too "fancy" with it and just wind up falling flat.

Almost every time I'm there and not at the bar I've gotten bad service. The girls have little to zero knowledge of beer and the menu too.

Haven't been since October. Last time I was there I didn't have this experience. October was a long time ago, though. A lot could have changed.

I'd love to pick your brain about that. You have a solid group of beers on draft at home if I recall from the pics I've seen. How does that happen? Who do you know?

I make friends with guys at liquor stores and I spend a good bit of money at a certain few, so when something comes out I get a call. Loyalty at the stores pays off and so does showing up with out of state bottles every now and then. Isotoner, take care of the hands that take care of you.

Good policy. I honestly figured you had a friend at Goose Island. I feel like I remember you having some Bourbon County on draft as well as Lolita. Do your friends at stores just request extra kegs for you?

FBD was a pour of homebrewed brown ale that I kegged last night. Really good. Much better than the brown I made last fall.

SBD was a bit hoppier.

I get my pick of any kegs they can get. I got the only keg of bcbw in Denver I think. I got 3 bcbs kegs, 2 Lolita, 2 sophi Paradisi, and 2 Matilda Lambicus kegs. One of my main spots is in good with the GI rep here plus I know her now so whenever she has kegs available for bars I am on the list to get one also. I shop exclusively at 3 stores here and buy beer for myself and 6 out of state people so I spend about $1000 a month on beer. Those 6 also send me beer from all over the US so I have plenty to hook up my beer guys with. Also I've been lucky enough to become friends with a few cool mother frickers that are pretty well connected with the breweries here so I get hooked up with a lot of stuff that way. Once your in the circle....

Well that sounds positively amazing. Thank you for satiating my curiosity. That's a pretty fantastic deal you have going. Cheers, brother

LBD part deux is another FBS because the online gradebook is up and running again. Putting grades in when I'd rather be asleep. Stupid progress reports. Grumble grumble grumble

Dean, have you been to 4505 Meats? I'm considering taking a whole cow butcher class there.

LBD round 3 as I finished grades was a Newcastle Werewolf from a leftover 6-pack. My god this sucks. Didn't see a point in cracking a decent beer that I likely won't finish. This is really shitty. I honestly think I'd prefer BMC. Just bad flavor in general.
