It is really just there for the flavor. You can take it out after a bit or just not use it at all I guess.

Eating them is good reason. It just tastes better with the ham. What about shrimp? Warm blooded vs cold blooded is where you draw the line?

It is just a strange IPA. It does not seem highly carbonated when you drink it, yet some bottles foam like a Belgian ale when you pour them. It has plenty of fruit and pine on the nose, but also a sweetness that is not a malty sweetness. You think it is going to be a bitter hop bomb, but it is not. It has a resiny sweetness and there is little, if any, bitterness to it. It is sweet, but not malty sweet. Just a really different beer. Have you had any?
