Si......I didn't get a permit......mainly because the city has no record of my house existing and wanted a bunch of bs before I even could even apply for a permit. Oh well, I know a few contractors that can help me. I will just have to pay some engineer fees for foundation analyses and crap like that. It won't get in the way of drinking.

3BD went quite well with the bottle of CA Pinot that we killed. Chocolate and red wine. Clothes were lost.

My drinking hours have been tossed up into a cattywampus whirlwind of dismay and 180ism.
Im keeping some odd hours (maybe more normal than years past) these days.
But life is grand! As grand as it can be without the ability to start 5 of 7 FBD threads a week, that is.

That was the impetus for this whole remod. We had a softball size hail storm a year ago. So I decided now is the time to do it so I don't have to pay for a roof myself. That's when I went to the city and found out they have no record of my 1929 house........some how they still manage to send me a tax bill though. So before I could apply for a permit, I had to provide them a floor plan, elevations and have an inspection by building inspections and the fire Marshall. And of course I need to pay for this privilege. I decided to take my chances. Somebody reported me. Code enforcement in dallas only responds to phone calls. That's ok. I got 90% of it done. And after this I will be legal. It. Just means I have to fire up auto cad and do some drafting and have an engineer say I know what I am doing.....and maybe drink a few beers with him. Too bad I don't drink.
