Spent all day yesterday nursing a hangover. No beer on a Saturday is rare for me. That pushed my Saturday brewday to today. Brewing up the Sour base I will be barrel aging in a 5 gallon Rum Barrel then adding Toasted Coconut and Key Lime to for Nola on Tap.

FBD is my latest Homebrew. A 7.2% NEIPA with Galaxy, Styrian Cardinal, and Vic Secret.
It’s named TJOOCEN in honor of my baw’s fricked up “Uh-Kee-Lees.” Feel better, dude.

The Styrian Cardinal only makes up like 15% of the hop bill but is definitely present. The 70ish% Galaxy comes through with all the dank topical/Passionfruit character you’d expect, but there’s a light, floral spiciness that I’m pretty sure is the SC. First time using this hop which boasts: “Gooseberry, Pineapple, Citrus” on the packaging. I’m think this would be a fantastic Noble hop replacement, but I’m not digging it in a juicy beer. Maybe in a Brut. The beer is still excellent though... I’ve been playing around with adding these Amoretti Artisan Flavors I bought a few weeks ago that are just concentrated fruit purée and sugar and it’s pretty much like cheating. I know what Parish is using for SIPS...

I hear you, but I had an upper GI biopsy Tuesday to confirm that I have Celiac. Anything with barley/wheat (99.9% of beer) hits me hard.

Im back up on the horse, baw. Don’t worry ‘bout me!

Are you using clarity-ferm in your homebrews for the gluten?

Fbd is homebrew pilsner while seasoning the ugly drum smoker I built yesterday.

Nah, I am just now figuring out (last couple months) that Celiac has been what’s been plaguing me. It’s not a complete intolerance like some have, but it definitely hits me hard. I get a runny nose and stuff like 1.5 beers in. I have plans to play with millet, sorghum, sweet Potato, etc with enzymes for my gluten free experiments. But yeah, I may start messing with the additives that drop *all* of the gluten out. My doc asked me if I’d stop drinking if it came back that I had Celiac and my answer was honest: “No, not unless you tell me I CAN’T have beer. In which case, I will probably sneak it.”

That smoker is badass! What you got planned to smoke first?

SBD is Batch 03 of JUCEE... I got to say, it’s good, but a bit overhyped. It has no glaring faults which I guess is why it’s so well liked. I still think for a beer that says “Juiciest beer around” on the can, you better fricking bring it. And on the “juice” front, I’ve had much better.

I'd really look in to the clarity ferm. It's too easy. I make some gluten-free beers for my sister every so often and use it. No affect on taste whatsoever and she drinks it with no flare ups. It's pretty amazing.

I'm thinking I'll do a butt next weekend just because it's forgiving and I don't have any experience on how well it keeps temps and at what amount the valves need to be open.

Cheers BLB & The Est
FBD is a little homebrewed English Brown. I don't know if it's The fact that I haven't had a beer in 6 days but, the flavors have really blended well over the last 40 days. Hope it holds up for next weekend's HBC competition. I think I got a chance...

Yep. Hair of the dog is the only thing that works for me.

FBD after some yard work is a Jucifer. It is not quite as hot as last weekend, but that isn't saying much.

Enjoying my post grass cutting FBD. Sitting in my front porch without my shirt because it’s soaked and I’m hot. Pretty sure I don’t have the physique to pull that off. Pretty sure I don’t care.

TBD is my first taste of Space to Face Milkshake NEIPA by SoPro. It’s gud, but too sweet. At only 5.9%, the Lactose just overpowers the beer. I can tell the base is good, but a higher attenuating yeast and no lactose would make this MUCH better.

My property is a little over an acre. It is a lot of work, but I enjoy it. I let the boundaries pretty much grow wild which makes for good screening. For privacy there is no substitute for space.

Contemplating nextBD.
