How long will they last in the fridge before going bad?

......or hatching?

Ok, first and foremost, the eggs you buy aren’t fertilized. They aren’t going to hatch, I promise

But to actually answer your question, are they washed or unwashed?

Not sure what you mean? My buddy cleaned the shite off the shells if that is what you mean.

Ask him if he washed them with water or not.

Also, why don’t you ask the dude that gave you the eggs? I imagine he knows

He won't. He just has the chickens because his daughter wanted them. He is a CPA, not a farmer.

If washing them requires more than just cleaning shite off the shells then they are not washed.

If you break an egg and the white is thick and sticks to the shell or the yellow is broken, it's no more good.

Did anyone tell you to drop them in a bowl of water? If any float to the top they are no longer any good. The freshest eggs will sink and lay down sideways

If he only brushed/wiped them off, they don’t need to be refrigerated. Washing them with water removes the “bloom”, which is a waxy layer that protects the egg. Eggs are extremely pourous, so if you wash off the bloom, they need to be refrigerated immediately. If the bloom is intact, you can keep them for weeks without refrigeration.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Just to clarify..... An egg can be fertile or not and it is edible. It needs to be set on by the hen or incubated in order for it to hatch. Fresh eggs are fine unrefrigerated for some time. The refrigerating of eggs really isn't necessary unless you don't use them for a long time. What do you think they did a hundred years ago?
The way to really tell if an egg is fresh is if the yolk is plump and stands up well supported compared to lying flat like when broken and put into a pan or container. The floating/sinking thing tells you whether an egg is fresh or older but not necessarily that you can't eat/use it.

And to add it doesn’t change the taste by refrigerating so if anyone is uncomfortable leaving them out then put in icebox. I know a few people that just don’t want to leave them out.
