Sorry to hear about the restaurant closing. I worked with a Jason L a few years ago from the Westbank and a Shaw grad. That you by chance?

Nope I went to Brother Martin in New Orleans.

Thanks everyone.

in other news... Olive Garden still packin em in...

This is the fricking problem in BR. I visited Off The Hook quite frequently when I'm in BR which is 3-4 days a week. It's the ONLY place in BR to get a N.O. style po-boy. It's really a shame it's closing while the Olive Gardens and Applebee's of the world continue to have 1 hour waits for lunch. Keep on keeping on BR.

I appreciate anyone who makes a go at running a place like that. Restaurants in any form are tough

Yep it is definitely tough. The craziest thing about the restaurant business is that you can have several people compliment you on a batch (of gumbo, boiled crawfish, etc. and even say it was the best they have ever eaten) and then someone complain about that same batch and tell you it was the worst they ever eaten and how they had to trow it away because it was so bad, etc. That's always boggled my mind.

Have you tried Dempsey's shrimp poboy?

I like Dempsey's, and I eat there quite a bit. Don't like their bread though, and don't find they have enough shrimp nor or they seasoned enough for my taste.

I know it's the cool thing to say, but this just isn't true. Try getting into Dempsey's at noon.

Dempsey's is in a pretty good location. I'll tell you that the Applebee's on the corner of Airline and Old Hammond is always fricking packed at lunch. The dumb bitches at work love to go there and they're always bitching about the wait.

Didn't realize that, can't say that I've been...I've just never noticed a large number of cars in the parking lot.

Based on its' location, I can pretty much guess the clientèle.

Everything in that Hammond Aire shopping center is like that minus the Greek place and the Mexican place. So yeah, your hunch is probably correct.

Our market part (frozen, fresh seafood, & dry goods) will be open the next two eveings until 7pm. All of our existing inventory will be half off. Some items we have- poche's sausage, poche's boudin balls, poshe's boudin links, frozen frog legs, frozen snow crab clusters, frozen corn for boiling, boiled crabs cold, live crawfish (have a few sacks left), fresh U-10 scallops dry, fish fry (different brands), seasonings, etc.

Just in case anyone is interested. Kitchen will be closed as we will be packing stuff and cleaning.

Jason - I'm sorry to hear about you shutting your doors. I only made it over there a handful of times but I really enjoyed your poboys and everyone was always very nice. I wish you the best of luck in the future.

Thanks, actually Dempsey's was a big customer of ours with our wholesale before I think Seasource jumped in and took the business. Still remember what yall used to buy from us (70/90 peeled, 26/30 headless shrimp, catfish, and crabmeat).

I might put in for a small disaster (due to the spill) business loan and relocate somewhere. I'm not sure yet.

I almost never end up on that part of Airline to have stopped by. If you relocate, I'll be sure to come in and spend some money.
