With salt and butter and maybe even cheese?
How’d you like it?

Usually just a pinch of salt, a bit of sugar and a splash of cream or half and half.
Sometimes a little syrup.

Salted porridge (oatmeal) is the Scottish style.

Yes.
Like it a lot.
Definitely worth a try if you haven't done it.

Salt, pepper, olive oil on top after cooked.
Very good and healthy.

I always make my oatmeal with salt and butter and usually throw a couple of soft boiled eggs in there too. It's really tasty. I am not big on sweet stuff and prefer most things to be savory.

No, never.
I buy steel cut oats, boil them in some water until done and will usually only add a bit of honey or brown sugar to them.
Sometimes I'll add a bit of cinnamon and thinly sliced apples near the end of the cook time so the apple slices soften a bit and the cinnamon is well blended in the oatmeal.

Butter, a little sweetener, and a spoon of crunchy peanut butter.

I eat it pretty rarely but I only eat it with salt.

No but I have some nieces from Georgia who like to eat their grits with brown sugar and butter in them. Strange.

I make a dish that I had a couple times in Kentucky. It’s ground beef and ground pork with steel cut oats. Seasoning it well with the holy trinity. I’ll deep fry it like boudin balls or pan sear it with a couple eggs over easy tossed on the top. That’s as close to oat meal as I get.
