The past two purchases I have made were admittedly the cheaper route. But I’ve been tired of getting crap heat levels and overall too much effort required.

I’m going to invest in a fairly good one this next round and plan to do a lot this fall. I think I want to get a “cabinet” style that has multiple racks. I’m getting lost in a sea of research, does anyone swear by one they have or have great experience with one?

Get a Masterbuilt propane, not electric. Set it and forget it....

I just have a cheap masterbuilt electric smoker so I cant personally recommend anything. However, I have a coworker that went through a similar process as you and wound up buying a cookshack. He loves it but they are pretty pricey especially for a decent sized one.

Get a MES 40 inch.

Get. Remote thermometer.

You won’t regret it.

The extra space is well worth it. You are limited with the 30 inch, and may have to do acrobatics to fit large briskets or racks of ribs in there. Pretty much anything fits in a 40. I love mine.

I’m currently smoking baby backs on my Camp Chef Woodwind. I‘ve only had it a couple weeks and this is the first time I do ribs, but the results on what I have cooked are awesome.

Nevermind. Yes, that’s it. A couple questions for the Masterbuilt...

1) how often do you have to put in wood chips?

2) is there any way to use one of thise pellet smoker trays in this? I have heard those are great if you want to set it and forget it

I have a 30" MES and I love it. I have the model with the digital control and it was just under $200.

1) I fill the chip loader twice in the first hour and about every 45 minutes after that. I stop adding chips after about 3 hours.
2) Yes.

Get the larger one of possible. I enjoyed the MES but has issues with the element burning out. I bought another Masterbuilt but got the propane version. I wore it out.

Do you have the sear box add on? If so, how do you like it?

Yes. I have a MES 40 and I have the Amazen pellet tray. Works great. You can go up to 12 hours of smoke with one tray, assuming you had a reason to go that long.

Hmmmm... been doing a lot of research on this and am seriously shifting my thinking towards it.

How/where did you get yours? Also which version?

Looks very promising and VERY versatile
