I'm somewhat glad you guys are staying away from El Limon simply because they don't take credit card.

BTW, I have plans on going back and trying one of the entrees, since I've stuck to tacos so far. Friend of mine got the milanesa and really enjoyed it.

Let me know what you try when you go. I plan on making a return trip later on this week to branch out on the menu.

Just had the small fajita beef quesadilla and 3 carnitas tacos from here. It was delicious. The quesadilla came with rice and beans which were also delicious. I cant wait to go back.

But why would you want to go back to a place that doesn't take precious credit cards and thus, by default, must be under reporting for tax evasion purposes? frick the hates, this place is awesome.

Best carnitas I've had in town.

Every time I go to La Carreta, the carnitas are dried out, the ones at el Limon are money. Might swing by there tonight.

Best thing to do is get three or four different tacos, so you can see what you like the best. One barbacoa, one fajita, one carnitas, one cueritos. Three tacos are enough, and would set you back less than $5.00 with a water.

Delicioso. Too bad it's so far from campus, I'd be here daily. Amazing flavor, the carnita was my favorite by far. I'll try lengua next time.

Same here.

Looks like you got the barbacoa, carnitas, fajita and cueritos.

If anyone remembers the tacos de barbacoa at Tacos Monterrey on Old Hammond @ Sharp, they're a lot like Victor's.

I miss that place. Old Victor had a good thing.

Thanks Afreaux

I drive by this place all the time and wonder about it. I do not know much about “authentic” mexican food, so some insight about what to order would be nice. Can you give me a reference of what Lengua might taste like?

Put it this way, when i was in Austin, I told my girlfriend to try my "beef" tacos which were actually lengua, and she said that it was the best beef tacos she'd ever had.

I've actually made them at home before and posted a thread on here about em. LINK

The flavor is just so tender, after hearing Zimmern and Bourdain talk about how it's their favorite cut, I had to try it.

Per the other comments, it's not entirely different than the taste of beef. It's still impossible to describe, but it isn't bad at all. Some of my buddies almost exclusively order tacos de lengua when we're at a taqueria.

A few places tend to overcook their carne asada, but the lengua is generally tender all of the time. I'm partial to beef brisket tacos, or the pork carnitas which are hard to find at local taco shops.
